Another nonsurgical treatment we offer patients struggling with cellulite involves a technique known as subcision, paired with dermal fillers. Subcision consists of the insertion of a small, hooked needle beneath the skin that is moved in a manual fanning motion to release the fibrous cords that contribute to the appearance of cellulite. Next, dermal fillers are used to plump up the skin from within and smooth out any dimples or irregularities in the skin’s texture.

How Does Subcision with Fillers Work?

Prior to your subcision procedure, a topical numbing cream will be applied to your treatment areas to ensure your comfort throughout the treatment. After the connective tissues in the skin have been broken apart, your provider will inject either diluted Radiesse or Sculptra fillers into any divets in the skin to provide smooth and uniform results. Radiesse, which contains calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) and Sculptra, which contains poly-l-lactic acid microspheres, each work to boost collagen production long-term for dramatic, lasting smoothness. Results can last up to three years or more before a repeat treatment may be needed.
